Following the convincing 3-0 win over Wadi Degla in their final match of the group stage in the competition, the Nigerian champions achieved history by becoming the first Nigerian team to advance to the knockout stage of the CAF Women’s Champions League.
During the first half, Juliet Sunday gave the Nigerian team the lead before Mercy Itimi increased the advantage just three minutes into the second half.
Five minutes later, Mercy Itimi doubled her tally of the game to extend Queens’ lead to three goals.
The three goals were sufficient to advance Bayelsa Queens—who placed second in their group behind Mamelodi Sundowns—to the next stage of the CAF Women’s Champions League.
Bayelsa Queens will play the home team, ASFAR Club of Morocco in the semifinal scheduled for Wednesday, 9th of November 2022 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium by 9pm (Nig Time).
