Enyimba Football Club’s journey in the African Football League (AFL) has reached its end, as they suffered a significant loss to Wydad Casablanca on Thursday evening.
In a disappointing turn of events, Enyimba was defeated by their AFL rival, Wydad Casablanca, and this resulted in their exit from the inaugural African Football League championship.
The Aba-based club had entered the second leg with high hopes of reversing their first-leg defeat from the previous weekend.
However, the former Botola Pro League champions delivered a devastating blow to the reigning champions of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
Early in the game, playmaker El Amloud opened the scoring for the hosts, leaving Enyimba’s players in disarray just four minutes into the match.
As Enyimba was still trying to find their footing, Harkass extended the lead by scoring from a low-cross on the left flank, doubling the advantage for Wydad.
Yahia Attiyat Allah sealed Enyimba’s fate by scoring in the forty-third minute, knocking out the two-time CAF Champions League winners from the AFL.

Regrettably, the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) now has only one representative across the three ongoing CAF competitions, which are the CAF Champions League, CAF Confederations Cup, and the African Football League.
NPFL fans had high expectations for Enyimba in the African Football League, but their journey ended in disappointment as they were eliminated from the competition without scoring a single goal.
It’s worth noting that this is the second time Wydad Casablanca has eliminated an NPFL team from a CAF competition.
