Kwara United extended their poor record against Rivers, as they were held to a goalless home draw against the Port Harcourt-based side in their Nigeria Premier League (NPFL) Matchday 23 rescheduled clash on Thursday.
With just a win in their last 10 NPFL meetings against the Pride of Rivers since February 2018, the Afonja Warriors dominated the game from the get-go and will rue their profligacy against their unconvincing opponents who were without head coach Stanley Eguma.
🚨Rivers Utd have sacked head coach, Stanley Eguma.

– Mandate was for him to win at Remo Stars
– Left the team and returned to PH immediately after the defeat in Ikenne
– Evans Ogenyi managed the side to a 0-0 draw at Kwara Utd

Eguma has reportedly been sacked by the club’s management following their 2-1 loss to Remo Stars on Monday, but neither his absence could save Rivers from their poor away form in 2024.
Kwara had their clearest chance in the 39th minute when Emmanuel Ogbole was found in a promising position by his teammate, but the striker could only direct his strike off target.
A few minutes into the second half, Rivers’ Kazie Enyinnaya’s shot hits the crossbar and dances on the goal line but the referee waved aside the shout for a goal.
The home side were the better side on the pitch but were a bit unlucky as four out of their 23 shots hit the crossbar, as both teams will eventually share the spoils that equalled their points on the log, although Kwara has played three more games than Rivers who had continental commitments.
