Rivers United head into the mid-season break with confidence soaring after the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) week 19 delivered another strong statement at the top of the table.
The Port Harcourt side tightened their grip on first place, while dramatic away wins and derby shocks reshaped the chasing pack across Nigeria.

The Garden City side proved their readiness to grab the title with a narrow but priceless 1–0 victory over Rangers International.
A towering header from Boluwaji Sholumade shortly after halftime proved decisive, rewarding Finidi George’s men with maximum points and stretching their lead at the summit to four.

Elsewhere in NPFL week 19, Kano Pillars produced one of the standout results of the round, dismantling Nasarawa United 3–0 in a fiery northern derby.
Mustapha Umar opened the scoring, Chidozie Jude Okorie added a classy finish, and Mustapha Jibrin capped a flowing move to seal a memorable win.
NPFL week 19 highlights: Away wins and goal rush
Enyimba were in ruthless form in Aba, sweeping aside Shooting Stars 3–0. Goals from Chinedu Ufere, Edidiong Ezekiel, and Chidera Michael reflected total dominance from the People’s Elephant.
Abia Warriors continued their impressive run with a disciplined 1–0 victory away to Plateau United, courtesy of Taheer Abubakar’s late strike.
Katsina United also celebrated on the road, edging Kun Khalifat 1–0 in Owerri through Richard Christopher’s first-half effort.
El-Kanemi Warriors picked up valuable points in Yenagoa with a slim win over Bayelsa United, while Niger Tornadoes impressed at home, seeing off Barau FC 2–0 in Minna.
In Ozoro, Warri Wolves and Wikki Tourists played out an entertaining 2–2 draw, with Imamu Bala’s brace cancelling out goals from Ezekiel Oroh and Seth Mayi.
