The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) delivered another exciting clash on Sunday as Ahmed Musa scored the decisive goal in Kano Pillars’ home victory over Enugu Rangers.

Ahmed Musa celebrates after scoring in Kano Pillars 1-0 Enugu Rangers clash

It was a game filled with history, rivalry, and drama, with both teams pushing hard for three points in matchday four at the Sani Abacha Stadium.

Musa’s Magic Breaks Rangers’ Resistance

This was not just another fixture—it was a meeting of two NPFL giants with 12 league titles between them.

Coming into the match, Pillars were desperate to bounce back after a poor start to the season, having lost two and drawn one of their opening three games.

Rangers, on the other hand, arrived with a slightly better record but were still searching for consistency.

Their last five encounters favoured Pillars, who had already claimed three wins and one draw before Sunday’s clash.

The turning point came in the 65th minute when the former Super Eagles captain struck with precision to hand Sai Masu Gida their first win of the season.

Despite Rangers’ spirited effort, they could not find a way back and were left frustrated once again against their northern rivals.

With this result, Kano Pillars now have four points but remain in 17th place, level on points with Rangers.

Musa’s influence, both as general manager and player, is now expected to inspire the club as they prepare for their next test against Remo Stars.

Kano Pillars 1-0 Enugu Rangers: NPFL Game of the Week

The clash lived up to its billing as the Game of the Week. Rangers came with hopes of revenge after last season’s defeats but failed to convert key chances.

Pillars, boosted by their home crowd and Musa’s leadership, made sure history repeated itself in Kano.

Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu’s side will now face the task of regrouping, while Pillars will look to build momentum and push up the NPFL table.

NPFL Matchday 4 Roundup

Beyond the Kano showdown, matchday four offered fans plenty of action across Nigeria:

Warri Wolves had to settle for a goalless draw against Kwara United in a cagey contest, while Abia Warriors made the most of their home advantage to edge Katsina United 1-0. Nasarawa United also earned a slim victory, defeating Wikki Tourists by the same margin.

Rivers United kept their momentum going with a lone goal that was enough to see off Shooting Stars. Elsewhere, newcomers Kun Khalifat delivered one of the shocks of the weekend, claiming a convincing 3-1 win over El Kanemi Warriors. Defending champions Remo Stars were also left stunned as Plateau United sealed a 2-0 triumph.

Bayelsa United endured a disappointing evening in front of their home crowd, falling 2-0 to Enyimba. Ikorodu City impressed with a solid 2-0 victory over Barau FC, while Bendel Insurance had earlier kicked off the weekend’s fixtures on Saturday with a narrow 1-0 win against Niger Tornadoes.
