The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) delivered another exciting clash on Sunday as Ahmed Musa scored the decisive goal in Kano Pillars’ home victory over Enugu Rangers.
It was a game filled with history, rivalry, and drama, with both teams pushing hard for three points in matchday four at the Sani Abacha Stadium.
Musa’s Magic Breaks Rangers’ Resistance
This was not just another fixture—it was a meeting of two NPFL giants with 12 league titles between them.
Coming into the match, Pillars were desperate to bounce back after a poor start to the season, having lost two and drawn one of their opening three games.
Rangers, on the other hand, arrived with a slightly better record but were still searching for consistency.
Their last five encounters favoured Pillars, who had already claimed three wins and one draw before Sunday’s clash.
The turning point came in the 65th minute when the former Super Eagles captain struck with precision to hand Sai Masu Gida their first win of the season.
Despite Rangers’ spirited effort, they could not find a way back and were left frustrated once again against their northern rivals.

With this result, Kano Pillars now have four points but remain in 17th place, level on points with Rangers.
Musa’s influence, both as general manager and player, is now expected to inspire the club as they prepare for their next test against Remo Stars.
Kano Pillars 1-0 Enugu Rangers: NPFL Game of the Week
The clash lived up to its billing as the Game of the Week. Rangers came with hopes of revenge after last season’s defeats but failed to convert key chances.
Pillars, boosted by their home crowd and Musa’s leadership, made sure history repeated itself in Kano.
Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu’s side will now face the task of regrouping, while Pillars will look to build momentum and push up the NPFL table.
