Villarreal knocks Juventus out of Champions League

Juventus were on Wednesday eliminated from the Champions League in the last 16 for the second time after a humiliating defeat in Spain against Villarreal.

The Italians were undone by Villarreal’s perfect defensive performance, which resulted in a 3-0 victory and a 4-1 aggregate victory.

The visitors had waited a long time for their hosts to make a mistake, which Rugani did late in the second half.

Moreno scored from the penalty spot when the opportunity finally arrived, and Juve had little chance, before Torres and Danjuma secured the decisive victory.

In the last three seasons, Juventus has been knocked out of the Champions League at this round three times.

Despite the fact that they were bad, Villarreal kept calm all around. Throughout the game, Emery’s team only had three shots on target, yet they all went in.

There hasn’t been a more precise play in a long time from the Spanish team and they’ll surely cause trouble to any team in the quarterfinals.

After making its mark in the Champions League this Villarreal will now wait to discover who they will face in the quarter-finals, while Juve will head back home, to reflect more on yet another disappointing European showing.
