With a convincing 2-0 victory over Sheriff Tiraspol and Cristiano Ronaldo scoring his first goal, Manchester United earned their first Europa League victory of the season.

Ronaldo grabbed his first goal of the season and Jadon Sancho continued his his excellent game play in Manchester United’s win over Sheriff during their Europa League game on Thursday night.

After exchanging passes with Eriksen outside the box, Sancho gave the visitors the lead. He turned onto his left foot before firing a low shot that smacked off the right post and into the goal.

After Dalot was fouled by Kpozo, a penalty was awarded, and Ronaldo converted it to earn his first goal of the season.

Erik ten Hag is optimistic that Cristiano Ronaldo will continue to contribute to Manchester United’s Europa League victory by scoring more goals after the striker helped the Red Devils in downing Sheriff.

Ronaldo struggled in United’s most recent home loss to Real Sociedad in their Europa League opener, and he had not been a regular starter in any of United’s previous four Premier League games.

Ronaldo, who started the match on Thursday, however, was successful from the penalty spot as United earned three points in Group E.

Although it was his first goal in the Europa League, it was Ronaldo’s 699th club goal of his career. Sheriff was the 124th different team the 37-year-old had managed to score against, and Ten Hag anticipates that there will be many more this campaign.

Shortly after the game, Ten Hag told Man United’s website;

He needed that goal. He was close many times, but you always see he wanted that so much. We’re happy for him, and the team wanted him to bring that goal. We could expect this when you miss pre-season, he has to work really hard and invest to get the right fitness. He will score more goals. He’s really close; when he gets more fitness, he will score more.” – he said.
