Rasheedat Ajibade marked a personal milestone on Thursday night, scoring her first-ever UEFA Women’s Champions League goal, even as Paris Saint-Germain slipped to a 2–1 defeat against Real Madrid at the PSG Campus.
The Super Falcons captain, who started alongside compatriot Jennifer Echegini, was one of PSG’s brightest sparks on a difficult evening.

However, it was Real Madrid who surged ahead through Naomie Feller and Athenea del Castillo Redondo before Ajibade pulled one back for the French side just before the hour mark.
The forward, making her fifth appearance in the competition, opened her account in style — timing her run perfectly to meet Sakina Karchaoui’s teasing cross and heading home from close range.

It was a sharp reminder of the instinctive movement and finishing that made her a fan favourite during her spell at Atlético de Madrid.
Despite PSG’s late push, Real Madrid held firm to claim all three points in their UEFA Women’s Champions League league phase encounter.
Christy Ucheibe impresses in Benfica’s defeat to Arsenal

Elsewhere, another Women’s Africa Cup of Nations winner, Christy Ucheibe, featured for the full 90 minutes as Benfica suffered a 2–0 defeat to defending champions Arsenal at the Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica.
Second-half goals from Beth Mead and Alessia Russo secured the win for the English side.
Ucheibe impressed in defeat, delivering a composed performance at centre-back — a position she has made her own since converting from midfield following her 2020 move to Portugal.
