Enyimba came from behind twice to secure a dramatic 3-2 win over Bendel Insurance in Aba, a result that continued to seal their spot at the top of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) table.

The visitors stunned the home crowd early when Chinedu Nwosu struck in the 2nd minute to put the Benin Gunners ahead.

Enyimba responded through Joseph Abiodun, who coolly finished in the 18th minute to restore parity.

Insurance regained the lead on the hour mark via Wisdom Udom, but the Big Elephant showed resilience once again.

Kalu Nweke levelled from the penalty spot in the 65th minute before substitute Chidera Michael completed the turnaround just four minutes later with a composed finish, sending the Aba fans into raptures.

Joseph Abiodun (Enyimba): Brought his side back into the contest with a vital equaliser.

Wisdom Udom (Insurance): A constant threat who briefly restored Insurance’s advantage.

The victory moves Enyimba to the top of the NPFL standings with 11 points, extending their unbeaten run.

Nasarawa United remain close behind on 10 points after their late win over Bayelsa United, while Niger Tornadoes sit third following a 4-2 victory against Ikorodu City.

At the bottom, Kano Pillars and Kun Khalifat continue to struggle with just four points each, while Plateau United and Barau FC remain firmly in the danger zone.

Bayelsa United 1-2 Nasarawa United: Collins Onovuke’s 88th-minute winner gave Nasarawa a crucial away win.

El Kanemi Warriors 1-0 Warri Wolves: Ismail Muktar’s early strike was enough to seal all three points.

Niger Tornadoes 4-2 Ikorodu City: Tornadoes raced to a three-goal lead inside 16 minutes before holding off Ikorodu’s fightback.

Shooting Stars 2-1 Kun Khalifat: Sodiq Ibrahim’s goal just after halftime ensured 3SC secured their first win of the season.

The highlight of the weekend was Enyimba’s character and attacking depth, all on display once again as they overcame a determined Insurance side in Aba.

The Stanley Eguma side now travel to Lagos to face Ikorodu City in Week 6, while Bendel Insurance will return home to host Bayelsa United in a clash of sides looking to bounce back.
