The penultimate fixture of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Matchday 34 week saw Shooting Stars secure an empathic 4-0 victory over Abia Warriors at the Lekan Salami Stadium on Sunday.

Coming off a goalless draw with Bendel Insurance on the same turf last Sunday, May 26, the Oluyole Warriors, after being held to a goalless 45 minutes, ran a rampage over Warriors in the second half.

It wasn’t until the 72nd minute before Alexa Aghahowa broke the deadlock, while Malomo Taofeek and Christian Pyagbara increased the hosts’ lead to 3-0 before the 85th minute.

Six minutes into the added time, Adams Mustapha fired in the fourth goal from outside the box to wrap up the three points for Shooting. The victory took the Gbenga Ogunbote-led side to fourth on the log, as they kept their eight consecutive home clean sheets.

Other Matchday 34 results saw Enyimba trounce Rivers United 4-1 in Aba, while Sunshine Stars’ 2-0 victory over Gombe United confirmed the Savannah Scorpions’ relegation.

Fidelis Ilechukwu’s Rangers International suffered a setback in their title chase, as Sporting Lagos held them to a goalless draw at the Onikan Stadium. Naija Tornadoes played a 1-1 draw with Kwara United as Bayelsa United increased their hopes of survival with a 3-2 win over Plateau United.

The final game of the Matchday 34 fixtures will see relegation-threatened Akwa United lock horns with Heartland at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri on Monday.
