Abdullahi Biffo, Sporting Lagos head coach has expressed his side’s determination to secure positive results in their last five matches of the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
Sporting Lagos suffered a disappointing 4-1 loss to Rivers United in their Matchday 33 fixture at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium on Sunday.
While the defeat didn’t put the Lagos-based team in the relegation zone, it meant two defeats in three matches for Biffo ever since he took over from Paul Offor in April, before the NPFL embarked on a one-month break.
Reacting to the disappointment, Biffo said, “Losing this match is something to worry about. I know that we are going to lose ground and every team below us are fighting seriously. I saw Akwa went to Lobi and won, that’s a threat to our result here.
“Nevertheless, it’s not over. We still have five more matches to play. We have to put our heads together and be positive. We have to keep fighting until the last day. We will keep pushing until we get it right.
Ahead of their clash against table-toppers Rangers at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Sunday, June 2, Biffo added, “Now, we’ve accepted the result and are ready to use Sunday’s game against Rangers to win those three points back.”
