Real Sociedad head coach Imanol Alguacil, has commended the dedication of Sadiq Umar, despite the Super Eagles’ forward low output in the just concluded season.
Sadiq scored three goals and registered one assist in 26 La Liga appearances, as Sociedad finished sixth on the log. Most of the 27-year-old’s appearances came as a substitute, but his manager believes he showed more commitment than others.
Reflecting on Sadiq’s contributions in a chat with Futbol Fantasy, Alguacil said, “There has not been any bad gesture, he has always wanted to contribute and when he has not done it, it has been a technical-tactical decision. He has respected it; he has continued training until the end, being one more. That’s why I say, I can’t ask for more from these types of players.
“He gives his all, this is football and it’s about performing, getting it right. But hey, the main thing and the basic thing, for me, is to give it your all, give it your all, and be respectful. In Sadiq’s case, I can’t say anything bad about him.”
Sadiq missed out on Finidi George’s squad list for the Eagles World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic in June.
