Sporting Lagos held Enyimba to a goalless draw on Sunday afternoon, marking their first encounter with a top-flight team at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos.
This unexpected outcome occurred in the Naija Super 8 pre-season tournament, as the newly promoted Nigeria Premier League side managed to secure a draw against the renowned football powerhouse, Enyimba FC.
Throughout the game, Sporting Lagos created better scoring opportunities and should have emerged as the winners. However, Mohamed Zilkifilu missed a golden chance to score from a penalty, which would have given them control over Enyimba.

John Noble, who saved the penalty, was named the hero and Man of the Match due to his impressive performance in the highly contested match.
To counter the challenge posed by the new entrants to the Nigerian top flight, the two-time African champions had to rely on their experience.
Had Enyimba been defeated, it would have meant their elimination from the contest after their 2-1 loss to Remo Stars in the opening match on Friday.
Currently, Enyimba occupies the last position in Group A with just one point from two games. They have yet to secure a victory in the competition’s initial two matches.
In another Group A match, Remo Stars and Katsina United played to a 1-1 draw, providing fans with thrilling moments but no clear winners.
This result places Remo Stars at the top of Group A with four points from two matches, while Katsina United has one point from one game.
