McTominay land Manchester United in FA Cup fourth round

173

Manchester United on Monday night overcame Aston Villa 1-0 at Old Trafford to advance to the fourth round of the FA Cup.

They grabbed the only goal of game in the eighth minute when McTominay headed in, but Villa had the better chances after that, with Watkins hitting the crossbar in the first half.

They struck the back of the net twice in the second, both of which were ruled out.

The first was tapped in by Watkins, but VAR called it out for a foul on Cavani, and the second was tapped in by Ings, only for a late flag to be raised against Ings in the build-up.

With the win, the Red Devils have secured a home matchup against Middlesbrough in the following round, which will take place in little over a month.

Villa has now lost their previous seven FA Cup games, including two in the third round.

On Saturday, these two teams will face again in the Premier League, with United visiting Villa Park.
