Lautaro Martinez brace sees Inter beat Empoli 4-2

Inter came from behind to beat Empoli 4-2 at San Siro on Friday night, moving to the top of Serie A with Lautaro Martinez scoring a brace.

Pinamonti put the visitors ahead after just five minutes, and Asllani added a second after a quick break in the 28th minute.

Inter re-entered the game with two goals in the final five minutes of the half; Romagnoli placed one in his own net before Martinez equalized.

Inter pulled ahead in the 64th minute when the Argentinian grabbed his second goal, before Sanchez secured the victory late in stoppage time with a close-range drive.

With their opponents not playing until Sunday, Inter goes one point ahead of Milan in the league rankings.

Their attention now moves to the Coppa Italia final on Wednesday, in which they will meet Juventus. Empoli’s winless run continues, keeping them in 14th place.

Their next match will be against relegation-threatened Salernitana.
