Rangers had a few half-chances, with Joe Aribo shooting wide from long range and John Lundstram’s effort going over the bar. The game was close at halftime, but it ended goalless.

Before Aribo managed to beat Trapp to give the Scottish side the lead 12 minutes into the second half, thanks to an error at the back end.

Frankfurt defender, Djibril Sow headed the ball back to his own goal, Aribo bursts past the defender and keeps his cool under pressure before hitting the bottom-left corner with a left-footed strike.

Borre scored 12 minutes later at the near post to put the Germans back in the game.

From the left flank, Kostic whips in a dangerous cross that swerves between Goldson and Bassey.

Borre was in the right place at the right time and fired into the bottom-right corner past McGregor.

After Joe Aribo put the Gers in front in the second half, the Germans had to come from behind to force a penalty shootout.

Rafael Borre converted Filip Kostic’s cross to tie the game.

Neither team could compel a winner in regular or extra time, spurring penalties.

Borre was the night’s second hero, sending his effort into the top-left corner to secure the Europa League title and a spot in the Champions League next season.

Frankfurt’s 42-year wait for a second European title has come to an end, as they have been named Europa League Champions for 2022.

Frankfurt wins the Europa League with an undefeated season, following Chelsea in 2018/19 and Villarreal last season.
