The newest Chelsea recruit – Kalidou Koulibaly, has officially called John Terry to ask for his permission to wear the Number 26 jersey.
Koulibaly seems to be such a gentleman that he called John Terry first and requested his consent before donning the number 26 shirt.
This admirable act has made many Chelsea fans ecstatic that their team signed the defender.
Kalidou Koulibaly posted a video of himself asking Chelsea legend John Terry for approval to wear the illustrious number 26 shirt on social media.
Koulibaly initially said that his English wasn’t very excellent, but John Terry reassured him that his fluency was in fact quite good.
“Sorry for my English, my English is not so good, I would like to do my best. John, I wanted to ask you something because you know I played with 26 at Napoli, and I see since you left the club nobody has taken 26. I don’t know if you retired it or if nobody wanted to take it, but I wanted to ask you if it was possible for me to take it.“
On the phone, John Terry responded to Koulibaly by saying;
“The number 26 was very special to me and I really appreciate you calling, and it’s no problem for me for you to take it. Absolute pleasure. I wish you well because I know how important the number was to me, and obviously to see you wear 26 as well, my pleasure mate. I’ll give you the 26.”
Koulibaly thanked the former captain of Chelsea but insisted that the jersey would still be heavy for him to wear before Terry challenged him to preserve the team’s culture of winning trophies.
