Hazard scores extra time winner as Real Madrid beat Elche

156

Real Madrid beat Elche following a thrilling extra-time period in their Copa del Rey round of 16 match, thanks to goals from Isco and Eden Hazard.

In the first half, Elche played well, but Carrillo squandered a fantastic opportunity to put them ahead from short range.

Madrid, however, commanded the second half but was unable to break the deadlock.

Extra time, on the other hand, brought the game to life. Marcelo was the first to get sent off for a late tackle.

Then Verdu’s deflected goal from the subsequent free-kick gave Elche the lead. The visitors appeared to be on their way out, but they rallied in the second half of extra time.

Ceballos’ shot was deflected in by Isco before Hazard scored a dramatic late winner.

Late in the game, Elche had a goal ruled out, and Milla was given a second yellow card for his protests. Despite this, Madrid managed to pull off a stunning comeback victory.

As a result of the outcome, Madrid advanced to the quarter-finals, while Elche is eliminated.
