Enyimba’s away trip to Bayelsa United turned into a landmark night in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) with a performance that combined grit, patience, and history-making brilliance.
The nine-time champions battled hard before sealing a 2-0 win at the Samson Siasia Stadium — their second victory of the season and their first away success.
Enyimba Breakthrough Against Bayelsa United
The game began with the Aba boys showing sharpness in attack, yet Bayelsa United held firm until halftime, keeping the score goalless.
The tension grew when the home fans believed they had taken the lead, only for the referee to rule out the goal for a foul on Enyimba’s goalkeeper — sparking heated debates in the stands.
That moment proved costly for the home side. In the 76th minute, substitute Chidera Michael pounced on a loose ball and calmly slotted home to give the People’s Elephant the lead, shifting momentum firmly to the visitors.
