Raheem Sterling’s transfer from Premier League side Manchester City to their rival Chelsea has been formally announced by the Blues.

Sterling is set to join the Blues in United States for their preseason tour, becoming the first well-known addition under the new Chelsea ownership.

Thomas Tuchel, who has had fruitful chats with the England international about how he intends to use him, would undoubtedly benefit greatly from the signing of Sterling.

The Blues needed to bolster their attacking options after allowing Romelu Lukaku to return to Inter Milan on loan. During their previous campaign, they lacked that ruthlessness in front of goal.

Chelsea’s success will be bolstered by Sterling, who signed for City from Liverpool in 2015 and has since won four Premier League trophies.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich all expressed significant interest in the 27-year-old attacker after he scored 17 goals in their last campaign.

In order to play more regularly, Sterling decided to quit City, who just sold Gabriel Jesus to Arsenal for £45 million. He hasn’t been a reliable starter for Pep Guardiola’s club over the past two years.

Sterling did not have a falling out with City before moving to Stamford Bridge, and he will undoubtedly be grateful to Pep Guardiola for helping him develop his technical acumen.

Sterling, whose £300,000 per week contract at City would have expired next year, has also received assurances from Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel that he will play a significant role for the Blues.

Raheem Sterling completed main part of medical tests in London on Sunday evening, contract signed until June 2027 plus option for further season as new Chelsea player.
