Arsen Zakharyan, who is interested in playing for Chelsea, has expressed his firm belief that he will still sign with the Thomas Tuchel’s team later in the 2022–23 season.
The young player expressed hope that a deal would soon be reached and that he would be able to switch over to Stamford Bridge in January.
He confirmed that Chelsea had always been interested in acquiring him during the summer transfer window.
Unfortunately Chelsea’s pursuit of the Dynamo Moscow winger – Arsen Zakharyan came to a halt after they were unable to find a way to process the move.
Chelsea have high expectations for the 19-year-old, and a transfer would generally be straightforward to complete given his £12.6 million release clause.
However, the negotiation has been greatly hampered by constraints placed on the Russian sides, which were officially enforced in retaliation for their invasion of Ukraine.
Football411 gathered that because of the rigorous rules that Russian businesses must abide by that limit how they may receive money, the Blues experienced legal problems while attempting to pay for Zakharyan’s transfer fee.
In 52 games for his team, Zakharyan has only been able to provide 13 goals and 16 assists while playing all over the midfield. He has been on Chelsea’s radar for a while and has long been regarded as a possible future star.
“There was an offer from Chelsea, but it was impossible to complete a transfer. Of course, I accepted – how can I reject that? I hope everything will be done soon… maybe in January.” – Arsen Zakharyan told @sportsru.
Zakharyan, who was trained as a left winger, still plays primarily in that position, but he has also played extensively on the right and in central midfield, where he has spent the majority of this season.
Because Chelsea are still in contact with Dynamo Moscow over the deal, it appears that they are still hopeful that they will be able to get Zakharyan to come play at Stamford Bridge in the future.
