The ongoing U-20 Men’s World Cup in Argentina has entered an exciting phase as Italy, South Korea, Uruguay, and Israel have advanced to the semifinals.

Surprisingly, no African team has reached this stage, as the available slots were secured by Asian, European, and South American countries.

At Estadio Ciudad de la Plata, La Plata, Italy will compete against South Korea at 6:30 p.m., while Uruguay will face the surprising semifinalist, Israel, at 10:00 p.m. Nigerian time, in order to secure the final spots in the tournament.

In order to reach this stage, Israel defeated Uzbekistan 1-0, Italy overcame England 2-1, Uruguay triumphed over Tunisia 1-0, and South Korea defeated Ecuador 2-0 in the round of 16 on May 30, 2023.

In the quarterfinals held on June 3, Israel achieved a stunning 3-2 victory over the favored Brazil, while Italy emerged victorious with a 3-1 win against Colombia, and South Korea secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Nigeria, the only African representatives.

On the other hand, Uruguay completed the semifinal pairings with a convincing 2-0 win over the highly-regarded United States of America.

As the stage is set for tonight’s semifinal matches at Estadio Ciudad de la Plata, La Plata, Argentina, football enthusiasts worldwide should keep an eye on emerging talents like Dor Turgeman, Anan Khalalili, and Kevin Marcedo from Israel’s U-20 team.

Key players for Italy include Matteo Pratti, Cesare Casadei, Tommaso Baldanzi, and Francisco Pio Esposito.

South Korea’s standout players to watch are Seung-Won Lee, Young-Jun Lee, Bae Juo-Ho, Chang-woo Park, and Choi Seik Hyun, who played a heroic role against Nigeria in the quarterfinals.

After 90 minutes of regular time in the two semifinal matches, football fans around the world might witness an Italy vs. Uruguay or South Korea vs. Israel final showdown in the U-20 Men’s World Cup.
