The Super Falcons of Nigeria are set to wrap up the 2026 WAFCON qualifying campaign on their home soil in Abeokuta on Tuesday, holding a comfortable 2–0 lead over the Amazons of Benin Republic.
After a commanding display in Lomé last Friday, Nigeria will look to secure their spot in Morocco with a composed yet aggressive approach.
Super Falcons ready to handle a tough Benin challenge
Despite their first-leg advantage, head coach Justine Madugu has emphasised caution, warning against underestimating their visitors.
“The Amazons, with about 10 professional players from Germany, Morocco, France and Equatorial Guinea, gave a good account of themselves,” Madugu noted. “We are not taking anything for granted or leaving anything to chance. We will be ready to go all out for victory.”
Madugu is expected to field a largely unchanged lineup from Lomé. Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie will remain the last line of defence, backed by Michelle Alozie, Osinachi Ohale, Tosin Demehin and Ashley Plumptre.
In midfield, captain Rasheedat Ajibade will orchestrate alongside Deborah Abiodun and Taiwo Afolabi, while Ihezuo, Okoronkwo, and Folashade Ijamilusi lead the attacking charge.
Key players to watch in the return leg
Nigeria’s attacking threats remain potent after registering seven shots on goal in the first leg. Ihezuo’s clever finish and Okoronkwo’s composed strike in Lomé demonstrated their ability to exploit defensive gaps.

The returning home crowd at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex will hope to see another dominant display from these forwards.
Veteran star Asisat Oshoala could also make an appearance, providing an additional spark alongside Joy Omewa and Kafayat Mafisere.
While the first leg saw Nigeria dictate the tempo and manage the game effectively, the Falcons are expected to maintain intensity from the opening whistle.
Benin, on the other hand, will seek to turn the tie around with their blend of domestic and foreign-based professionals, creating a potential tactical chess match in Ogun State.
With qualification for the 14th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations on the line, the Super Falcons are determined to extend their record as 10-time continental champions while setting their sights on the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
