Arsenal came out victorious in a thrilling game at the Emirates Stadium, increasing their chances of finishing in the top four this season.

After just three minutes, Tavares put them ahead, then Saka converted a penalty to make it 2-0, but Ronaldo pulled one back to make it 2-1 at halftime.

After Matic was fouled, United came out battling in the second period, and Fernandes had a chance to equalize from the penalty spot, but he hit the woodwork.

Ramsdale then made a fantastic stop at his near post to deny Dalot, tipping the ball onto the post.

United’s squandered chances came back to bother them later in the game, as Xhaka made it 3-1 with a brilliant drive from outside the box on 70 minutes, securing the three points.

Cristiano Ronaldo became the fourth player in Manchester United history to achieve 100 Premier League goals with his strike (also Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Wayne Rooney).

Arsenal has moved over Tottenham and into fourth place as a result of their win, Spurs played out a goalless draw vs Brentford.

The Gunners will travel to West Ham United next.

Meanwhile, United is still in sixth place, six points behind fourth, with a game against Chelsea scheduled for midweek.
