Chelsea hero against Leicester City – Raheem Sterling, has stated that Reece James had promised to assist him with plenty of chances to score goals after hitting a brace during their Premier League game on Saturday.
The 27-year-old forward scored his first goal for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the second half before adding another goal to double his total after Conor Gallagher was dismissed from the game with two yellow cards.
The new Chelsea star took the game against Leicester too personal, firing his first goal from the edge of the box, which deflected off Daniel Amartey and over Danny Ward.
The England international increased Chelsea’s lead 16 minutes later by finishing on a superb cross from Reece James.
“Its priceless feeling to score in front of you all and get 3 huge points. Great performance from the boys. It was a difficult game and we knew it will be a game of few chances for us and we had to make it count. I tried to stay at the edge of the box, have a shot [for the first]. I had a bit of luck.” – Sterling said.
Harvey Barnes halved the score, but Chelsea managed to hold on to win 2-1 with 10 men. Sterling left the pitch happy after scoring two goals as the Blues grabbed their first victory at home.
Raheem Sterling expressed his joy at scoring his first two goals for Chelsea, with a little assistance from Reece James for the second goal.
Sterling spoke candidly to Sky Sports about the goals following the game and claimed that James had promised to set him up for many more goals this season.
“Reece told me he’d put one a plate for me. He’s been telling me so since i got here, but as i said, we knew it will be a game of few chances and we got two goals advantage and defended very well.” – Sterling said.
