Ex-Super Eagles forward Victor Ikpeba has tipped the Super Falcons of Nigeria to navigate their way past Japan, Spain and Brazil in the Paris 2024 Olympics Group C.
The Super Falcons ended their 16-year Olympics after defeating the Banyana Banyana of South Africa 1-0 on aggregate to secure a spot at this year’s edition.
The Randy Waldrum’s tutored side will, however, face stiff opposition from current World Cup holder Spain, 2011 World Cup winner Japan and 2007 runners-up Brazil in what has been dubbed the group of death.
“Super Falcons will get out of this Group of Death,” Ikpeba said as revealed by Daily Post.
The former Borussia Dortmund star continued, “Nobody also gave us a chance when we were drawn into a tough-looking group at the 1996 Olympics that had Brazil, Japan and Hungary, but we went on to make history by winning the first Olympics Gold for Africa.
“The Falcons need early preparation, possibly in France for two, or three weeks, we did the same in 1996, when we trained for some weeks in the USA, the earlier they prepare, the better for the team.”
The Super Falcons will begin their Olympics campaign against the Verde-Amarela of Brazil on July 25 at the Matmut Atlantique Stadium in Bordeaux, France.
