Super Eagles defender Ola Aina has shared an emotional update after undergoing a successful surgery, describing the experience as making him “feel like a kid again.”
The Nottingham Forest full-back had the operation on September 13 following a hamstring injury he picked up during Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Bafana Bafana of South Africa.

The 28-year-old sustained the setback last week and is now expected to be sidelined for around three months.
His absence means he will miss Nigeria’s upcoming World Cup qualifying matches against the Crocodiles of Lesotho and the Squirrels of the Republic of Benin.
Despite the disappointment, Ola Aina remains optimistic.
The versatile defender is targeting a return in time for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be hosted in Morocco in December.

The former Chelsea star has also been affected at club level. Aina was removed from Nottingham Forest’s Premier League squad and missed their 3-0 away defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
His international teammate, Taiwo Awoniyi, was drafted in to take his place, although the defender could be re-registered after the winter transfer window.
Speaking from his hospital bed, Aina expressed gratitude to fans for their support and prayers following his first-ever surgery.
He described the moment as part of a divine plan and promised to remain positive during his recovery journey.
“Thank you for all the support and all the messages and stuff. Just finished having my surgery, my first one, but yeah! Just want to say thank you for all the messages; we move, man, all in God’s timing. This is God’s plan. I feel like a kid again, brov.”
As it stands, Aina is determined to channel his energy into recovery while keeping faith in making a strong return for both club and country.
