Super Eagles goalkeeper Amas Obasogie has reached a proud career milestone, celebrating his first silverware of the season after Singida Black Stars clinched the 2025 CECAFA Kagame Cup.
The Nigerian international, who once guarded the posts for NPFL side Bendel Insurance, now has his name linked with continental glory in East Africa.
Morice Chukwu Shines as Singida Black Stars Lift Kagame Cup
Although Obasogie did not feature in the final, his fellow countryman Morice Chukwu was in action for the full 90 minutes.
The former Rivers United midfielder played a crucial role in helping Singida Black Stars secure a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Sudanese giants Al Hilal SC.
Clatous Chota Chama was the hero of the night, scoring twice to seal the win at the KMC Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Despite Abdelrazig Taha equalising for Al Hilal in the first half, Chama’s sharp finish after the break restored Singida’s lead and ultimately crowned them champions.

Singida Black Stars Write History in CECAFA Triumph
For Singida Black Stars, the victory marks their first-ever CECAFA Kagame Cup title. Guided by Coach Miguel Gamondi, the Tanzanian side displayed discipline, resilience, and attacking flair throughout the tournament.
The victory also came with rewards: gold medals, a cash prize of US$30,000, and the honour of being East Africa’s new champions.
Runner-up Al Hilal SC received US$20,000, while Rwanda’s APR FC claimed bronze and US$10,000.
The tournament, sponsored by Betika, featured 12 teams across East and Central Africa, making Singida Black Stars’ achievement even more remarkable.
The celebrations may be short-lived, as Amas Obasogie, Morice Chukwu, and their teammates will quickly shift focus to their CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
They will be facing Rwanda’s Rayon Sports in the first qualifying round this coming weekend.
