For the first time since replacing Eugene Agagbe as Lobi Stars head coach on October 6, Daniel Amokachi has secured his first win in charge of the Ortom Boys.
Super Eagles legend Daniel Amokachi has recorded his first victory as head coach of Lobi Stars, following a 2-1 win over Bayelsa United at the Lafia City Stadium on Monday, October 28.
After managing two draws and one loss in his opening three games, Amokachi’s tactical tweaks paid off in the 22nd minute, with Ossy Martins slotting home a composed finish. However, Bayelsa United responded eight minutes later, as Ibrahim Yahaya converted a penalty to bring the game level at halftime.
Ultimately, Martins sealed the win in the 57th minute with his second goal of the match, lifting the Ortom Boys out of the relegation zone on goal difference.
Meanwhile, defending champions Rangers International continued their poor title defence with a 1-1 draw against Kwara United in Ilorin. Maduforo Kingsley’s 44th-minute goal cancelled out Shola Abdulraheem’s opener, marking the third consecutive 1-1 draw between the two teams in Ilorin.
