New Chelsea coach Graham Potter is looking set to secure the services of Cristiano Ronaldo in January, according to a sensational report by Todo Fichajes.New Chelsea coach Graham Potter hoping to sign Ronaldo in January

Footballrover understand that Todd Boehly, the owner of Chelsea, spoke with Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes in July in the hopes of signing the Portuguese superstar this summer.

The agreement was prepared to be finalized and made public, but Thomas Tuchel, the former head coach of Chelsea, caused a stir and asked that he not be acquired.

However, the deal fell through, and Tuchel persisted on bringing in Barcelona’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as his new hitman.

This incident increased the hostility that existed between Boehly and Tuchel during the summer and ultimately led to the German’s dismissal earlier this week.

Graham Potter, who took over the hot seat as the Blues manager when Tuchel left, is reportedly willing to sign Ronaldo in January, according to reports.

Ronaldo might sign with Chelsea.
So when the transfer window finally opens in the new year, there is a significant likelihood that he will move to Stamford Bridge.

Ronaldo has played the previous four league matches as a substitute for Man Utd, all of which have resulted in victories, and is no more a regular for the first team under manager Erik ten Hag.

The former Real Madrid star is incredibly eager to leave Manchester United, as has been widely reported in recent weeks.

Ronaldo wants to sign with a team that will compete in the Champions League and this year’s major titles.

The prospect of switching to Chelsea in January would excite him. For Manchester United last season, Ronaldo scored an incredible 24 goals across all competitions.

In 2022–23, he has not yet recorded a goal or an assist. In the 1-0 Europa League loss to Real Sociedad on Thursday, he did score, but it was called off for offside.
