Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka, and Arsenal’s new captain all appeared to be in outstanding shape as the Gunners finished their preseason campaign in spectacular fashion.

Arsenal defeated Sevilla 6-0 at the Emirates Stadium. The heavy defeat was rounded out by a hat trick for Gabriel Jesus, a double from Bukayo Saka, and a goal from Eddie Nketiah.

Arsenal had the better opening of the two teams, and eight minutes in, Bukayo Saka was shoved in the back by Rekik in the penalty area. The Gunners took the lead when Saka calmly converted his penalty.

Gabriel Jesus scored once more for Arsenal after 14 minutes to double their advantage. The Gunners increased their lead yet again to 3-0 three minutes later.

Gabriel Martinelli sent a lovely cross to the back post, where it was met by Jesus, who deftly deflected it past Bono and into the goal.

Saka scored Arsenal’s fourth goal barely 19 minutes into the match. The Gunners took a commanding advantage into halftime after scoring four goals in the span of nine minutes.

Jesus completed his hat trick with 15 minutes still to go. Jesus received the ball from a corner and pushed it in with a traditional poacher’s finish from close range.

Eddie Nketiah increased the score to six after Martinelli was set up for a goal by a fantastic ball from Xhaka in the 88th minute, but the Brazilian showed selflessness and passed it to NKetiah, who tapped it in from close range.

Shortly after the game, Arsenal new captain had this to say.

I’m very proud to be captain of this fantastic football club. We are looking forward to start the League now” – Martin Odegaard

On August 5, Arsenal will play the Patrick Vieira-led Crystal Palace in a London derby, which promises to be a Friday night match with lots of interesting storylines.

A week later, the Gunners play Leicester, and then they play recently promoted Bournemouth.

The 2022/23 season will see Arsenal participate in the Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup, and League Cup.
