With a 2-1 victory at the Khalifa International Stadium, Senegal shocked Ecuador by eliminating them from the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Chelsea defender – Koulibaly provided the winning goal.
Both teams had a chance to move to the round of 16 prior to this match.
After easily defeating Qatar and drawing with the Netherlands in their previous matches, Ecuador needed to win today in order to move on to the next round.

Senegal, on the other hand, lost their first game and won 3-1 against the hosts. They knew they had to win in order to advance, so they gave it their all to get the crucial three points.
Sarr’s penalty gave Senegal a 1-0 halftime advantage over Ecuador; the African team had been pressing for a goal from the first whistle.
Senegal’s Idrissa Gueye and Ndiaye both missed scoring chances before Hincapie’s late tackle on Sarr resulted in a penalty kick. He took the subsequent penalty kick and calmly sent it into the net.
22 minutes into the second half, Caicedo equalized for Ecuador to get his team back into the game.
Torres soared to the highest point to head on Plata’s excellent corner kick in the middle of the tight box. At the far post, Caicedo came unmarked, and he puts the ball in the goal.
