Juventus hold Napoli to draw at Allianz Stadium

171

Napoli and Juventus drew 1-1 at Allianz Stadium in Serie A on Thursday, with Federico Chiesa’s equaliser cancelling out Dries Mertens’ earlier strike.

The Juventus players were enraged when the referee called full-time before they could take their corner.

However, Juve are tied for top place with Napoli after Chiesa’s second-half score cancelled out Mertens’ first-half opener.

It’s 2022 and neither side was been able to get off to a winning start, with Allegri’s side remaining in fifth place and Spalletti’s side in third place.

Juventus finished 2021 with back-to-back 2-0 victory over Bologna and Cagliari, putting them in fifth place in Serie A.

While Napoli was the early frontrunner with Milan, they weakened towards the end of the season, culminating with a humiliating 1-0 loss at Spezia after defeating Stefano Pioli’s team by the same scoreline.

On Sunday, Napoli will host Sampdoria, while Juventus will travel to Roma to face Jose Mourinho.
