Former Arsenal midfielder – Jack Wilshere, who decided to retire a few days ago, has now been formally designated the head coach of the Gunners’ under-18 team.

Jack Wilshere, who announced his retirement from professional football last week, has been named the head coach of Arsenal’s under-18 squad.

The 30-year-old was an Arsenal academy product who went ahead to make 197 appearances for the club’s senior squad, winning the FA Cup just twice in the process between 2008 and 2018.

Wilshere declared that his playing days were finished on Friday, one day after wrapping off his five-month stint with Danish club AGF.

The England international had a short stint working with the young Arsenal youngsters last year, but this will be his first official coaching position.

Wilshere, whose career was plagued by injuries and during which he also played for Bournemouth and West Ham, expressed his thanks for getting the chance to coach the North London team’s U18 squad.

On his social media platforms, the midfielder stressed that he is back to where he belong and praised the Gunners team for their belief in him and support.

Absolutely honoured to be the new U18’s head coach at this amazing club. Thanks to the club for your trust and support. Back where I belong” – Jack Wilshere said.
