Rivers United head coach – Stanley Eguma has expressed joy after his side defeated Plateau United 2-0 at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Wednesday.
After thumping Plateau United, Rivers United strengthened their lead at the top of the Nigeria Professional Football League table to ten points.
The Pride of Rivers controlled the match, producing multiple scoring opportunities before Chijioke Akuneto’s brace gave them the victory and three points.
Rivers United now has a 10-point lead over Plateau United, who are in second place, and Stanley Eguma’s club may benefit from the advantage.

Following the win, the coach, who couldn’t contain his delight, spoke to the media about his team’s progress, the top scorer race, and other concerns.
“It is almost done but it is not yet over. We still need to work harder.” – Stanley Eguma said.
With seven games remaining in the 2021/22 season, Chijioke Akuneto and Rafiu Kayode are tied for the league lead in goals scored with 14 each.
When Rivers United takes on Bauchi Boys – Wikki Tourist in NPFL matchday 32 on Sunday, June 5, the Stanley Eguma Boys will be looking to keep their scoring streak going.
