Ikorodu City have announced a landmark partnership with Guinness Nigeria ahead of their high-profile home clash against table-toppers Enyimba in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) this weekend.

The Oga Boys confirmed the deal on Thursday, revealing that Guinness will feature prominently on the club’s official matchday jerseys and digital content and activate its brand at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

Guinness partnership boosts Ikorodu City’s big test

The announcement arrives just days before Ikorodu City hosts Enyimba in one of the most anticipated fixtures of the season.

“We officially welcome on board Guinness to the Ikorodu City FC family. Ikorodu City X Guinness. Black Shines Brightest,” the club wrote on their socials.

For Ikorodu, this new partnership feels timely. The Lagos-based side have been formidable at home since their NPFL promotion, losing only two of their last 21 league games at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

Last season, the Lagos Boys turned their fortress into a scoring haven, netting 48 home goals in 19 matches.

They also battled Enyimba to a thrilling 2-2 draw at the same venue, snatching a late equaliser that left the visiting People’s Elephant stunned.

With Guinness now in their corner, the team will be eager to rediscover that fearless edge and give their passionate home crowd another memorable performance.

Oga Boys eye redemption after slow start

Ikorodu City have endured a shaky start to the current campaign, recording just one win in their last five outings, including three straight draws before a recent defeat.

Sitting 10th on the NPFL table, they are under pressure to climb the standings.

Enyimba, on the other hand, are in red-hot form. The nine-time champions are unbeaten in five consecutive league matches — their best run since the 2009/10 season.
