According to a football analyst, Mr. Best, Enyimba, the current champions of the Nigeria Premier League (NPL), should offer Chukwuemeka Obioma a significant increase in salary to keep him at the club.
Football411 gathered that foreign clubs have shown interest in recruiting Obioma, and Enyimba wants to prevent him from leaving to maintain their dominance in both domestic and continental competitions.
Enyimba is at huge risk of losing their star player, Chukwuemeka Obioma, to clubs such as Zamalek from Egypt and Videoton (Ferhever) from Hungary.
Realizing the importance of keeping their key players for the upcoming season and continental tournaments, Enyimba is now faced with the challenge of convincing Obioma to stay with the team.
But then, Obioma has expressed his willingness to consider offers from outside the Nigerian league.
It is estimated that the NPL Golden Boot winner could earn around ₦15 million in salary if he decides to move abroad.
However, Mr. Best, the analyst, believes that Obioma’s fondness for the NPL and his desire to stay can be used to Enyimba’s advantage.
Mr. Best suggests that Enyimba should offer the talented forward an improved salary in the range of ₦3,000,000 to persuade him to remain with the club.
Expressing concerns about the potential departure of one of the league’s top scorers, Mr. Best emphasized that it would not be beneficial for the NPL.
He recognized Obioma’s skill and his importance to Enyimba’s success, urging the club to take proactive measures to secure his services for the upcoming season.
