Chelsea secured a spot in the FA Cup fourth round at the cost of non-league Chesterfield, winning by a wide margin.
The minnows will not be disappointed, but a consolation goal surely put a smile on their faces anyway.
As at full-time, Chelsea 5-1 Chesterfield was the scoreline at Stamford Bridge.
At one time, James Rowe’s men appeared to be on their way home with more goals against them.
Instead, they only gave up one penalty in the second half and scored one themselves and in the end, it wasn’t really their day.
It’s a job done in a more than usual manner for Thomas Tuchel. His team had a strong first half and performed admirably.
It’s back to the lower tiers for Chesterfield, who will face Maidenhead United next.
Chelsea, on the other hand, have a Carabao Cup tie against Tottenham and might book a place at Wembley.
