South Africa’s win at the Aisha Buhari Cup, ABC, has been described as “totally deserved” by the Football411 Podcast.
Banyana Banyana produced two masterclasses against giants Ghana and Nigeria (in the final) at the Onikan Stadium last week to lift the maiden edition of the ABC.
After taking the Ghanaians to the cleaners in their opener, the South Africans crowned it all when they thrashed favourites and hosts Super Falcons 2-4 in the final to emerge champions.
Banyana Banyana dominated from start to finish and never looked in trouble all game despite conceding two goals, becoming the first African side to score three or more goals against the Super Falcons.
Reacting to the performance of the teams, the Football411 Podcast crew posited that the South Africans were worthy winners over the Falcons who they described as “leggy, heavy and lethargic.”
South Africa totally deserved their win, they looked fleet-footed, had more energy, they were pressing, running, they were all over the Super Falcons. I don’t want to sound disrespectful, our girls looked leggy and heavy.
