Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre once again proved her class in the Saudi Women’s Premier League, delivering two decisive assists to power Al Ittihad to a commanding 3-0 away victory over Eastern Flames on Friday evening.
The 27-year-old defender was at the heart of Al Ittihad’s attacking play at the Prince Saud bin Jalawi Stadium in Al-Khobar.
Ashleigh Plumptre Inspires Al Ittihad With Double Delight
After Hala Khashoggi opened the scoring in the 19th minute, Plumptre’s creativity took centre stage.
She set up Lina Boussaha for the team’s second goal just eight minutes later, before repeating the trick only four minutes later as the duo combined again to seal the win.
The two assists mean Plumptre has now created goals in back-to-back games, taking her tally to three this season.
While her attacking contribution caught the eye, Plumptre’s defensive presence was just as impressive as well.
She won all her tackles and ground duels, made seven ball recoveries, and delivered eight passes into the final third — a complete performance from the 2024 WAFCON winner.
Since joining Al Ittihad, the new super captain has been directly involved in 32 goals in 32 matches (15 goals and 17 assists). Her form continues to highlight her as one of the league’s standout players.
Her compatriot, Francisca Ordega, also featured in the contest, coming on in the 65th minute to replace Khashoggi.
Perfect start, bigger tests ahead
The victory marks Al Ittihad’s second straight win, giving them the perfect start to their campaign. But sterner tests lie ahead, with a tricky trip to face Al Nassr Ladies next week.
For now, though, the night belonged to Ashleigh Plumptre, whose consistency and leadership have made her the heartbeat of Al Ittihad’s ambitions this season.
