143

Nigerian international Victor Osimhen, has had a strong start to the 2022/23 campaign as he keeps scoring goals for his team – Napoli in Serie A.

In Napoli’s overwhelming home victory against Monza, the Nigerian international forward scored his second goal of the season, netting two goals in as many games.

The Super Eagles star has scored twice now in a row, first against Hellas Verona on the road and then against the Giovanni Stroppa team as they secured a 4-0 win at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium on Sunday.

Napoli had a two-goal advantage at the interval thanks to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who scored the game’s first goal just 35 minutes into the contest.

Victor Osimhen then doubled the lead just before the halftime through Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa who made the assist.

Victor made a beautiful move to get around the three-man Monza defensive line press, shifting right sideways to put himself in a one-on-one matchup with Ranocchia from which he fired his shot.

Just 17 minutes into the second half, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia made it 3-0, and Min-Jae Kim sealed the victory and the three points with a beautiful goal in stoppage time.

Osimhen should have scored his second goal of the contest in the 64th minute, but his forceful header sailed wild off the goal post. He was later replaced by Adam Ounas in the 84th minute.

With six points after two games, Napoli has risen to the top of the Italian league standings, while Monza is firmly entrenched at the bottom.

When Napoli and Victor Osimhen take on Fiorentina in their upcoming Serie A away game on Sunday, they will undoubtedly be trying to keep up this strong momentum.
