In a league with top strikers like Youssef En-Nesyri and Ciro Immobile, Sergen Yalçın has ranked Victor Osimhen as the best centre-forward in the Turkish Super Lig.
Sergen Yalçın, former Besiktas and Turkish midfield maestro has described Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen as the best striker in Turkish Super Lig.
Yalçın’s admiration for Osimhen came while evaluating the current quality of players in the Super Lig, in a discussion on Ekol TV,
“Galatasaray has Osimhen; he is undoubtedly the best centre forward in Turkey,” the 51-year-old stated.
“Other clubs don’t have the quality in attack. The centre forwards are very weak. Can they receive the balls like Osimhen? The guy is aggressive, he gets into duels and wins. Immobile is not like that. He may be a good goal scorer but he is not in the team game.
Yalçın questioned the price tags of players like En-Nesyri, who joined for €18 million, suggesting that their contributions don’t match Osimhen’s. “You give 18 million to En-Nesyri, but you cannot say, ‘This money will be given, he will save this team, he will score many goals.’ But you say this for Osimhen, even in the air,” he asserted.
Yalçın’s remarks follow similar sentiments from Turkish football legend Batuhan Karadeniz, who also described Osimhen as one of the few players who provides full value for his earnings.
Since joining Galatasaray on loan in the recent summer transfer window, Osimhen has proven his worth, recording four goals and four assists across seven appearances in both the Turkish Super Lig and the UEFA Europa League for the Yellow-Reds.
