Four Super Eagles stars, Tolu Arokodare, Christantus Uche, Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi, returned to club duty this weekend with renewed energy after a heartbreaking World Cup qualifying campaign.
Nigeria’s hopes of reaching the 2026 tournament ended in frustration following a 1-1 draw with South Africa.
Calvin Bassey’s equaliser spared some pride, but it wasn’t enough to give the Eagles hope of a spot in the finals.
Just days later, these players quickly turned their attention to the Premier League, where they showed resilience and determination in key matches.
Super Eagles stars bounce back in Premier League action
Tolu Arokodare made his long-awaited Wolves debut in the English Premier League.
The 24-year-old striker started away at Newcastle United, making 21 touches before being substituted in the 66th minute.

His side fell 1-0 at St James’ Park after debutant Nick Woltemade scored the decisive goal for Newcastle.
Despite the defeat, Arokodare’s involvement shows a new chapter for the forward as he looks to secure his place in the Wolves attack.
At Selhurst Park, Christantus Uche also marked his Premier League debut for Crystal Palace.
Coming on in the 84th minute, the midfielder produced a lively cameo, recording 12 touches in just six minutes of play.

Palace were frustrated by Sunderland goalkeeper Robin Roefs, who denied both Uche and Daichi Kamada with an incredible late double save.
The match ended goalless, but Uche will wish for more game time in their next fixture to truly show his worth.
Bassey and Iwobi lift Fulham spirits after World Cup setback
Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi both played their part as Fulham secured their first Premier League victory of the season.
Bassey was outstanding in defence, completing 100 touches, five clearances, and seven recoveries, proving once again why he is a reliable presence at the back.

Alex Iwobi also contributed significantly in midfield, completing 37 touches and five passes into the final third before being replaced in the 76th minute.
Fulham’s persistence paid off late on, as Gabriel Gudmundsson’s own goal in stoppage time handed them a crucial 1-0 win over Leeds United.
The victory moved Fulham up to 10th on the log and gave their fans hope after a tough start to the campaign.
While the disappointment with the national team lingers, their return to action surely brings excitement for their fans.
