It was indeed another weekend of mixed emotions for Super Eagles stars abroad, as several Nigerian players delivered impactful performances across Europe’s top leagues.
From Maduka Okoye’s brilliance in Serie A to Moses Simon’s long-awaited goal in France, Nigerian players continued to make headlines for their clubs.
Okoye leads the charge as Super Eagles stars shine abroad
Maduka Okoye stood tall between the posts as Udinese edged Atalanta 1–0 in the Serie A, frustrating Ademola Lookman, who came off the bench in the 59th minute but couldn’t find a breakthrough.
The defeat extended Atalanta’s winless run to six games, while Okoye’s composure helped Udinese claim a valuable home win.
In Germany, Victor Boniface impressed again for Werder Bremen in their 1–1 draw at Mainz. The Nigerian striker’s work rate and link-up play stood out before being subbed off in the 63rd minute.
Bremen’s late equaliser ensured they left with a point after Mainz had taken the lead in the first half.
The Premier League also saw a strong Nigerian presence as Fulham’s trio — Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, and Samuel Chukwueze — inspired a 3–0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Bassey marshalled the defence superbly, Iwobi contributed in attack, and Chukwueze came close to adding a fourth after hitting the post late on. The victory lifted Fulham to 11th, ending a four-match losing streak.
Meanwhile, in France, Moses Simon ended his goal drought in style, firing Paris FC to a 1–0 win over Monaco.

His clinical second-half finish snapped a two-month barren spell and moved his side up to 10th in Ligue 1.
Turkey saw two Super Eagles teammates face off as Victor Osimhen and Paul Onuachu shared a moment of camaraderie after Galatasaray and Trabzonspor battled to a goalless draw.

Both played the full 90 minutes — Osimhen was lively throughout, while Onuachu struggled to influence proceedings against a solid defence.
In Italy, Gift Orban once again showed his class despite Hellas Verona’s 2–1 defeat to Inter Milan.

The forward assisted Giovane’s equaliser and nearly scored himself, hitting the post in a performance that underlined his growing influence despite Verona’s struggles.
Super Falcons continue to dazzle in Europe
It was also another weekend of high impact for Super Falcons players shining abroad. Edna Imade, Jennifer Echegini, Esther Okoronkwo, and Vivian Ikechukwu all made their mark across Europe and North America.
Edna Imade was the star in Spain, scoring the decisive penalty that handed Real Sociedad a 1–0 win over previously unbeaten Barcelona.

The forward’s composure under pressure extended her scoring run to five consecutive matches, taking her tally to seven goals in seven league outings—a stunning streak that’s reignited calls for a national team call-up.
In France, Jennifer Echegini made a triumphant return from injury, providing an assist in PSG’s 2–0 victory over Le Havre.

Operating in a deeper midfield role, the Nigerian playmaker’s creativity and control stood out as PSG maintained their perfect start to the season.
In Canada, Esther Okoronkwo continued her fine form in the Northern Super League, registering another assist in AFC Toronto’s 2–0 playoff win over Montreal Roses.

The recently crowned NSL Assist Leader now boasts 15 assists across club and country this season, far more than any other Super Falcons player home and abroad.
In Mexico, Vivian Ikechukwu wrapped up her Liga MX Femenil season with a goal in Club Santos Laguna’s 3–1 defeat to Atlético de San Luis.
Her first-half strike took her season total to six goals in 14 appearances as she sealed her place as the club’s top scorer.
