Rafiu Durosinmi is continuing his sensational run in Europe, displaying why he is currently one of Nigeria’s most exciting forwards.
The Super Eagles prospect opened the scoring for Viktoria Plzen in their Europa League opener against Ferencvaros on Thursday, showing off the lethal finishing that has become his trademark this season.
Durosinmi shines, but Plzen surrender late lead
Just 16 minutes into the clash at the Groupama Aréna, Durosinmi broke the deadlock with a stunning strike from the edge of the 18-yard box, leaving the goalkeeper frozen.
His goal highlighted his blend of speed, control, and clinical precision—qualities that have already earned him seven goals in 15 appearances this season across all competitions, including the Champions League qualifiers, Czech Liga, and Czech Cup.
Viktoria Plzen seemed in control after Ferencvaros were reduced to ten men following Cebrails Makreckis’ second yellow card in the 38th minute.
Yet, despite the numerical advantage and Durosinmi’s early brilliance, the Czech side could not hold onto the lead.
Aleksandar Pesic struck a dramatic late equaliser in the 94th minute, denying Plzen a hard-fought victory and leaving fans disappointed.
Durosinmi’s unstoppable form drives Plzen ambitions
The 20-year-old’s pace and dribbling made him a constant threat, completing two key dribbles before he was substituted in the 86th minute for Adrian Zeljkovic. And just a few minutes off the pitch, his team gave away the slim lead.
Plzen will now have to shift focus to their next domestic clash against FC Zlin, aiming to recover from last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Sparta Prague.
Durosinmi’s form will be crucial to the team once again as they look to regain momentum in both domestic and European competitions.
