Nigerian football reaches new heights as Super Falcons defender, Nicole Payne, seals a momentous three-year contract with the illustrious French football club, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), for their women’s team.

At just 22 years old, Nicole Payne has already demonstrated remarkable talent and potential on the field.

With football running in her family’s blood, being the sister of Toni Payne, a Super Falcons representative at the FIFA Women’s World Cup, Nicole has inherited the football genes that fuel her passion for the game.

Her journey to success began in Birmingham, Alabama, USA, where she started her football career with Concorde Fire, a prestigious club based in Atlanta.

Later, she further honed her skills at the University of West Virginia, playing admirably for three seasons with the Montaineers.

Determined to pursue her football dreams while excelling academically, Nicole Payne continued her journey at the University of Southern California, studying psychology while showcasing her versatility and dedication on the field.

Throughout the season, she featured in all matches, played 16 games, and scored three crucial goals.

Her international debut with the Super Falcons came on 10 June 2021, gaining valuable experience and exposure early in her career during a friendly match against Jamaica.

Nicole’s talent shone brightly as part of the Super Falcons squad that secured a commendable fourth-place finish at the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

In their official statement on Twitter, PSG expressed their delight, saying;

“Paris Saint-Germain is pleased to announce the arrival of Nicole Payne. The Nigerian international defender joins Les Rouge et Bleu until June 2026.”
