Paul Onuachu’s prolific start to life at Trabzonspor shows no signs of slowing down.
The Nigerian striker scored twice to power his side to a thrilling 4-3 victory over Fatih Karagümrük in their Turkish Super Lig Round 7 clash at the Atatürk Olimpiyat Stadı in Istanbul.
Onuachu’s brace ignites Trabzonspor’s charge in Istanbul
The 31-year-old Super Eagles forward, who rescued Trabzonspor with a late equaliser against Gaziantep last weekend, delivered yet again with another decisive display.
His brace not only extended his scoring streak to back-to-back games but also pushed his season tally to five goals in just seven appearances—already surpassing the four he managed across 28 matches for Southampton last season.
Trabzonspor initially grabbed the lead in the 20th minute when Felipe Augusto finished from Wagner Pina’s neat through ball. Karagümrük quickly levelled as Tiago Çukur slotted home in the 28th minute after good work from Sam Larsson.
But Onuachu stepped up when it mattered. In the 35th minute, he restored Trabzonspor’s lead with a stunning acrobatic volley.

Deep into first-half stoppage time, he held his nerve from the penalty spot to hand his side a commanding 3-1 advantage.
Dramatic finish caps seven-goal thriller
Trabzonspor appeared to have sealed the points in the 88th minute when Danylo Sikan made it 4-1, finishing off Tim Jabol-Folcarelli’s precise pass.
However, late drama unfolded as David Datro Fofana struck twice in stoppage time, scoring in the 92nd and 93rd minutes to spark a nervy ending for the visitors.
Despite the scare, Onuachu and his teammates held firm to clinch an important away win, with the Nigerian forward’s first-half heroics proving the difference.
With his latest performance, Paul Onuachu has not only become Trabzonspor’s early-season talisman but also shown his ability to decide big matches.
His resurgence is fuelling the club’s ambitions as they look to maintain momentum in the Turkish Super Lig.
