Oparanozie calls for equal treatment for Falcons as Gusau visits injured Eagles

Former Super Falcons captain Desiree Oparanozie has called on Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president Ibrahim Musa Gusau to extend equal treatment to injured Falcons players following his recent visits to injured Super Eagles stars in Europe.

What happened?

The NFF president Gusau has been in Europe in the past few days, paying courtesy visits to some Eagles who are currently recovering from injuries.

Gusau specifically visited William Troost-Ekong in Thessaloniki, Greece, Moses Simon in Nantes, France and Zaidu Sanusi in Porto, Portugal.

“President of Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau has been in Europe in the past few days visiting some players of the Super Eagles who are recuperating from injuries,” the Federation reported on Wednesday.

“He also discussed with Ekong the importance of the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against South Africa and Benin Republic, though Simon and Sanusi are nursing long-term injuries and unlikely to be fit for the crucial games.”

While many Nigerian football enthusiasts commended the president’s visitations as a good move in the right direction, given the nonchalant attitudes of the previous administrations, Oparanozie faulted the exclusion of the Falcons’ injured players.

The Ex-Bayelsa and Delta Queens forward said the duo of Oluwatosin Demehin and Ashleigh Plumptre are also currently nursing injuries, with Demehin also recovering in the same country France, as Simon whom the president visited.

“It will be more nice if this [presidential visitation] is extended to the women too. Oluwatosin Demehin is currently injured and is in the same country as Simon. Ashleigh Plumptre is injured too,” the four-time African champions tweeted on Saturday.
