Kelechi Iheanacho’s bright start to life in Scotland is now showing no sign of slowing down.
The Super Eagles forward was once again at the heart of the action on Sunday evening, scoring and inspiring Celtic to a commanding 3-0 League Cup quarter-final win over Partick Thistle at Firhill Stadium.
Iheanacho delivers again for Celtic
With this performance, Iheanacho has quickly become a spark for Brendan Rodgers’ side, proving why his arrival at the Scottish side could be a turning point in his career.
Fresh from his dream debut where he came off the bench to score the decisive goal against Kilmarnock, Iheanacho was handed his first Celtic start—and he didn’t disappoint.
The Nigerian international provided Celtic’s third goal just after the break, showing his creative part once more.
Iheanacho lasted 59 minutes before being replaced by Daizen Maeda.
Celtic’s attack in full flow
Celtic started the game in relentless fashion. Benjamin Nygren combined with Hyun-Jun Yang to put the Hoops ahead in the 26th minute, and Liam Scales doubled the advantage just two minutes later.
With that two-goal cushion at half-time, Rodgers’ men looked in complete control.
Iheanacho then produced a moment of class early in the second half, linking play and ensuring Sebastian Tounekti extended the lead to 3-0.
Late in the game, Luke McCowan added a fourth to seal a one-sided victory that books Celtic’s place in the semi-final.
Momentum ahead of Europa League test
This win is more than just progress in the domestic cup—it is a sign of growing momentum.
Celtic have now registered back-to-back victories, with Iheanacho directly involved in both.
Attention now turns to Europe, where Celtic face FK Crvena Zvezda in the Europa League on Wednesday.
With Iheanacho settling quickly and finding his rhythm, Rodgers will hope his new signing continues to be the difference on bigger stages.
