Panathinaikos striker Cyriel Dessers continued his bright start to life in Greece with his first Greek Super League goal of the season, but it wasn’t enough to secure victory as Olympiacos struck late to force a 1-1 draw in Athens.
The Nigerian international opened the scoring just three minutes into the second half at the Stadio Apóstolos Nikolaidis, pouncing to hand Panathinaikos a deserved lead.
Dessers delivers but Olympiacos deny Panathinaikos
The home crowd roared as Dessers celebrated, his second goal in as many games following his strike in the Greek Cup against Athens Kallithea.
But despite his decisive touch, the night ended in frustration. Substituted in the 75th minute for Karol Świderski, Dessers could only watch from the bench as Ayoub El Kaabi struck in stoppage time to steal a point for Olympiacos.
The result leaves Panathinaikos stuck in 12th place with just two points after four matches, a slow start that adds pressure heading into their midweek Europa League clash with Young Boys.
George Ilenikhena caps Monaco’s five-star performance
Elsewhere in Europe, George Ilenikhena added his own flourish to an emphatic AS Monaco win in Ligue 1.

The 19-year-old Nigerian forward scored a superb stoppage-time strike in their 5-2 victory over Metz at the Stade Louis II, sealing a third straight league win for Adi Hütter’s men.
Earlier, Ansu Fati’s brace and goals from Mika Biereth kept Monaco in control despite Metz briefly fighting back through Gauthier Hein’s penalty.
With two goals in four Ligue 1 matches — both arriving in back-to-back games — Ilenikhena is showing his worth and his eye for big moments.
Monaco now sit second in the table, unbeaten at home in 11 matches and looking every bit like title contenders.
